VidrierĆ­as Crispieri’s History

The beginnings of Crispieri’s Glass Company are at the end of the nineteen Century, when Mr. Mario Crispieri came to Chile from Italy and installed the first machinery to manufacture paper in Chile in the City of Quillota.

After 10 years of work in this paper factory, he started a glass business with Scheggia & Belgeri Company in Santiago and Valparaiso.

In Santiago he got married to Rosa Lillo and they had 4 sons: Domingo, Elio (Lido Crispieri’s father, the present owner) Deysa and Mario.

To expand the Company Mario Crispieri had to emigrate to Lima – Peru and took charge of a branch, a few years later he went to La Paz – Bolivia and opened an important glass company, it worked for many years during wich time it made beautiful vitraux, bevelled, cut glass and also produced all kinds of their own mirrors.

ARICA

Due to the constant business interaction with Arica’s free port and taking advantage of commercial benefits, Mr. Elio Crispieri the son of Mario Crispieri (The Founder) decided to set up in Arica in 1954.

Mr. Elio got married to Clara Valdez Baccarezza and they had three sons: Lido (the present owner), August (deceased after 19 years old) and Ricardo who is now in charge of the Arica branch, Crispieri’s glass store is still trading in Arica’s neighbour city.

IQUIQUE

In 1977 taking advantage of commercial benefits of Iquique’s free zone, Lido Crispieri the elder son of Mario Crispieri (deceased after 64 years), in partnership with Mr. Felix Donnaggio founded ā€œDonaggio & Crispieri Ltda.ā€. The company traded for 4 years at #426 Serrano Street. In 1981 the partnership was divided and Lido Crispieri kept the glass store in Iquique and Felix Donaggio set up in Santiago.

Since 1981 the Crispieri’s glass store has worked at #740 Latorre Street and manufactured all kinds of goods related to construction and building, such as: Different kind of glass In many sizes, thicknesses and colours, mirrors, wall tiles, ceramics floor, porcelain, wall papers, carpets, aluminium profiles, frame moldings, etc.

ANTOFAGASTA

After a market study and supported in his initiatives and business drive. Mr. Lido Crispieri decided to start up a branch in Antofagasta in 1982 on Esmeralda Street. A few years later, due to the success growing prestige of the company set up in Bolivar #743 where is actually working.

Mr. Lido Crispieri besides to be a business man is an sportsman, he was Chilean Champion of ā€œHammer Throwā€ for 10 years, he practiced also underwater fishing; his qualities of efforts, honesty and honorability of business pushment, had gave a big prestige an area, being considered his opinion in different organism as Chamber of Commerce, Free Zone Association, Chilean Chamber of Construction an so on.

Mr. Lido Crispieri is married since 1966 to Ms. Eugenia Thomas Howard, and got 2 childrens, Marcelo Crispieri (Medical Doctor) and Daniela Crispieri (Business Administration) together with her husband Pedro Barrientos (Civil Engineer) propose continue with glass tradition an help grow up our region.
